This will be a short one.

This is quite a faithful port of the prototype of Sonic CD to the Mega Drive, besides the music. Everything functions as it should, and I have no objections to it.

It’s sad that there weren’t Genesis renditions of the original tracks, but I do find it quite fun to hear Sonic 1 music in Sonic CD, for what that’s worth. A little sad the time travel cutscene didn’t make it in.

There are two stand-out features in this entry.

The SEGA screen

It looks amazing! I have to applaud the inclusion of a full color FMV on a Mega Drive. Fantastic job here.

Lock-On Technology

While you can’t really create full new levels with this, the idea and the implementation behind this is novel and very fun to toy around with.

In fact, I’ve even made my own PAK!

Transclude of LEVEL.pak

I’ve encountered a small issue with a specific block ID not showing up; I had to duplicate it in SonLVL and replace the original. Something about that specific block ID the game just didn’t like. If you’re curious, I’d be happy so search around for more info.

Really fun proof-of-concept!
